History The Lewisburg Housing Authority was established on the 12th day of March, 1953. The establishment took place at Lambert Lumber Company in the city of Lewisburg. The Commissioners were as follows: Joe Wilson, Chairman: George W. Turner, R. Preston Hopkins, Folk Lambert, and Ewell Butler. They were also present by invitation attorney William N. Lloyd who was appointed Secretary of the meeting. The secretary read the call of the meeting and the consent to the meeting which ordered spread upon the minutes, as follows: Notice of Meeting Lewisburg, Tennessee 12 March 1953 To: George W. Turner R. Preston Hopkins Folk Lambert Ewell Butler You and each of you are hereby notified that I have called a meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Lewisburg Housing Authority to be held at the Lambert Lumber Company in the town of Lewisburg, Tennessee at 3 o’clock p.m. on the 12th day of March, 1953 for the purpose of organizing said Housing Authority, adopting by-laws and a seal therefore, electing officers, and to take such other action concerning the organization and business of said Housing Authority as the Commissioners thereof may determine. The Authority has had 5 Executive Directors over the years. The Executive Director also serves as Secretary Treasurer to the Board of Commissioners. The most noted Executive Director of the Lewisburg Housing Authority was Ms. Ladelle Lloyd. Under her 28 years of leadership, the authority was able to establish a repatriation of love, integrity, leadership, community safety as well as equal opportunity for all people. The First Project to be Constructed was TN37PO32001 and TN37PO32002 were constructed in the year of 1958 by Melvin Construction Co. At present Lewisburg Housing Authority controls 5 projects (TN37PO32003, TN37PO32004, and TN37PO32005. Totaling 220 Dwelling Units.
